A TRADITIONAL buffet might be the norm for most brides on their wedding day – but one Hoyland couple certainly went away from the norm.

From ham sandwiches and pork pies, to a roast dinner and trimmings, the meal at weddings can often be the best part – but Sarah and Tim Wood wanted to do something a little different at their big day.

The 30 and 31-year-old, both from Hoyland, decided there was no food better to celebrate their wedding than with a Chinese takeaway buffet at their reception at The Milton Arms, Elsecar.

By all accounts, the choice of Hoyland Common’s The New Mayfair was a hit with guests, with many getting up and down from their seats to get seconds and even thirds.

Sarah told the Chronicle: “We didn’t really want a normal buffet.

“We were talking about the best food and we thought once everyone’s had a drink, everyone wants a Chinese.

“They were really good about it and it was great.

“Everybody loved it and people were having three plates each.”

The couple married on Saturday at St Peter’s Church in Hoyland after meeting in their local two years ago.
