THE equivalent of more than 1,800 meals have been donated to a local foodbank through donations at Barnsley’s home games this season.
Teaming up with Reds in the Community, Barnsley FC launched the Reds Against Hunger Campaign last year to raise awareness about Barnsley Foodbank Partnership.
Throughout the season a total of more than 1,880 meals have been collected - after the final collection raise the equivalent of 381 meals.
Georgina Arnold, development administration at the foodbank, said: “We are so grateful for the support from Barnsley FC and Reds in the Community.
“Reds Against Hunger has had such a huge impact on our food bank and all of the donations have gone towards emergency food parcels for individuals in the Barnsley area.
“A huge thank you to all of the amazing fans who contributed too.”
