RESIDENTS across the Central area of Barnsley are being encouraged to join one of a range of projects aimed to boost skills and job prospects.

Community Boost Central features almost 20 different projects, including opportunities to try new skills like DIY and offering advice on how to start your own business.

The projects are available to residents from the Central area wards of the town - Kingstone, Worsbrough, Stairfoot, Dodworth and Central.

Coun Jenny Platts, cabinet spokesperson for communities, said: “There’s a really diverse range of projects on offer which will benefit residents, businesses and organisations across the Central Area.

“I’d urge everyone in the Kingstone, Worsbrough, Stairfoot, Dodworth and Central wards to visit Barnsley.gov.uk/CommunityBoost and look at the projects on offer.

“The website tells you how to get involved in each of the different projects, and if you can’t get online, you can call 773555 and our advisors will put you in touch with the right Community Boost project.

“It's time to believe in the possibilities of Barnsley, to look to the future with excitement and optimism.

“Our borough is a place that fosters and grows ambition, enabling everyone to be the best they can be.”
