A WOMAN died after a premise fire in Thurnscoe on Boxing Day, bosses have confirmed.
Firefighters were called to Lansdowne Close, at 9.20am, following reports of a property fire.
When they arrived, they found a fully-developed bedroom fire, with a woman thought to be trapped inside.
A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson added: “Despite the best efforts of crews to extinguish the fire and rescue the casualty, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Fire and police investigators are currently working to establish the cause of the fire but it is not thought to be suspicious.
“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this very sad time.”
