A NEW sculpture – on loan from the Cooper Gallery – is now on display in Library @ the Lightbox.

‘A Boy with a Dog’ by Joseph Gott can be seen by residents on the ground floor of the building, and was gifted to the town by Samuel Joshua Cooper, a businessman.

The piece replaces the sculpture of Kes by Graham Ibbeson which is now permanently placed in the town centre.

Coun Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesperson for place, said: "Barnsley has such an outstanding collection of artworks it is wonderful to see pieces displayed in unusual and interesting locations.

“We want to make art and culture accessible for everyone and taking sculptures like this out of traditional settings is one way to do it.

“We are lucky to have so many high-quality cultural destinations right on our doorstep and people can discover more stunning works like this just minutes away in the Cooper Gallery.”
