CHILDREN and youngsters from across the region will have a chance to work with local businesses as part of a ‘Takeover Day’ later this month.

The event will take place on November 26 and since the first challenge hundreds of youngsters have worked alongside MPs, mayors and TV presenters to gain experience in their field.

This year, interactive workshops will include NHS careers, South Yorkshire Police and the council itself.

Coun Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesperson for place, added: “This is the perfect opportunity for children and young people to gain some valuable experience and insight into the world of work.

“For businesses, it will be great to engage with and inspire the next generation.

“It’s fantastic to see local businesses, organisations and the community coming together, making Barnsley the place of possibilities.”
