WORKS outside the maternity entrance at the hospital have begun this week – and visitors may have to park elsewhere to access the service.
Work began on Monday for the critical care unit, and antenatal and postnatal wards.
To facilitate the works, the accessible parking bays will be relocated from car park four to car parks one and three.
This is to make sure that patients can move safely across the site during the construction.
A temporary hard surface will be laid in the front of the maternity block for the provision of a mobile mammography scanning service.
The grass area – opposite to car park four – will house a temporary car park which will be available while the construction is underway.
A spokesperson for Barnsley Hospital said: “Construction and refurbishment works will begin on our fantastic new Critical Care Unit, and Antenatal and Postnatal Wards causing some major disruptions outside the front of the hospital.”
