POLICE officers carried out patrols on Smithies Bridge after residents reported people gathering and throwing items off the bridge.
Patrols have been carried out at the bridge, which sits on Smithies Lane, after groups were noted drinking alcohol, and smoking cannabis.
On Wednesday (September 15) officers found a small group at the site.
A spokesperson for Barnsley North Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The group was searched, and all were advised about the behaviour.
“Their parents will be visited by us and the antisocial behaviour housing officer from Berneslai Homes.
“The bridge will continue to be checked over the coming weeks.”
