MORE than half of 16 and 17 year olds have had their Covid jab in just over a month - and two on-site vaccination clinics will now be based on Barnsley College sites during September.

Having teamed up with the college, the Barnsley NHS GP Covid-19 vaccination service will be open for students and staff on Monday at the Enrichment Theatre, and on September 27 at the Old Mill Lane site’s atrium.

Andrea Parkin, head nurse at the Barnsley GP vaccination service said: “We’ve seen so many young people eager to get their vaccine they’ve weighed up their options and chosen to have it, in a matter of weeks.

“One-in-two 16 and 17 year olds have already had it and we’re sure running some sessions at the college will make it convenient for more to get theirs done.

“It’s important to remember that even though we have fantastic vaccination rates in Barnsley, some people are nervous or worried and some still have questions.

“We’re proud to be working with the college and the students to help as many of them get their vaccination as soon as possible.

“Our team will be on hand to answer any questions and help people relax a bit and feel more confident.

“We’re looking forward to seeing everyone.”
