THE Reds lost their first Championship game of the season last night at home to Luton Town.

It was the third year in a row that Barnsley have lost to Luton at Oakwell - this time a 1-0 defeat.

The visitors took the lead in the fourth minute when Amari’i Bell fired home from 15 yards and Markus Schopp’s side couldn’t find an equaliser.

The Reds grew into the game, dominating the ball, but really struggled to create or finish any chances.

Schopp said: “We are disappointed.

“We were defensively too poor and struggling with balls we usually don’t struggle with and the second thing is we were not creative and clinical in the last third.

“When you are 1-0 down that early, it is a tough one to find the right answers.

“After ten or 15 minutes, we found good solutions but we were slow with the execution.

“We have to improve in the last third.”
