PART of Barnsley’s multi-million pound regeneration scheme will finally be open to the public from next month as construction work on the development is ‘almost complete’.

Over the next four to six months the full scheme will be launched but the new openings, which are set take place on September 9, will see Next, TK Maxx and Sports Direct unveil their brand new stores.

The removal of the hoardings and reveal of the new Glass Works square will also take place.

Coun Sir Steve Houghton, leader of the council, said: “The opening of The Glass Works Square and removal of the hoardings is a truly great moment.

“It gives everyone a chance to see the scale and quality of their new public space.”
