A MAN who has dedicated his time to making Cudworth a better place has been nominated for a Proud of Barnsley Award for his efforts.
Chris Fox set up the Cudworth Businesses and Community Together group four years ago to help bring together his community and show pride in the village.
Despite originally being from Derbyshire, Chris has adopted Cudworth as his home and has brought about great change in the care.
Working with the group Chris has organised Christmas fairs, bunny trails, walking maps and helped raise money to install Christmas lights along Barnsley Road.
“Cudworth is such a lovely place and I knew when I came here that I wanted to help it to flourish,” said Chris, 42. “I really wanted to bring the community together and encourage people to love where they live.”
Recently Chris helped to organise a mural in recognition of Cudworth bugler Paul Goose, who played the last post every night last year in aid of charity.
“Unfortunately because of the pandemic, we haven’t been able to get to mural together as quickly as we would have liked but I am still looking forward to it.
“I want to thank who has nominated me for the award but it wasn’t always just me – it was a team effort. However it is really nice to be nominated because it makes me feel like what I have been doing is making a difference.
“I have so many ideas about how to continue to make Cudworth better so watch this space.”
