BARNSLEY Council is encouraging voluntary and community organisations to apply for Covid-19 funding from a £250,000 pot.

Working alongside the South Yorkshire Funding Advice Bureau and Barnsley CCG, the project aims to support those groups and organisations who have been adversely affected as a result of the pandemic.

There are three themes to the funding - mental health, business planning and sustainability, and Covid-19 resilience.

Those who apply for the funding will be asked to provide evidence of need and a breakdown of the funding required.

A total of £250,000 is available, and last year funding to more than 80 organisations across the borough was handed out.

Coun Jenny Platts, cabinet spokesperson for adults and communities, said: “I’m really pleased that we’re able to offer this funding to our voluntary and community sector, and support the groups and organisations who are vital to our communities in Barnsley.

“It’s important that they’re aware of the support in place to help them in their recovery, and I would urge any groups that are experiencing financial issues as a result of the pandemic to apply.”
