THE NATIONAL register that is used to register births, deaths and marriages is experiencing technical difficulties.

The issues began yesterday (June 30) and affects systems across the country.

A spokesperson for Barnsley Council said: “It may cause a delay at your appointment, and could mean that you receive your certificate at a later time as we're producing them manually.

“We've also had to suspend our priority 24 hour service for producing copy certificates. You can still order copy certificates using our standard service, which can take up to five days for you to receive your certificate(s).

“We're sorry for any inconvenience.”
