RESIDENTS are being reminded how to keep their houses safe during the current spell of warmer weather.
As the temperatures are set to rise this week – South Yorkshire Police wants to help prevent residents from becoming a victim of crime.
The force has released list of advice to keep homes across the borough safe from opportunist thieves.
Neil Makinson from the town centre team said: “Close and lock all your doors and windows, even if you are just popping out for a few minutes. Double lock any door.
“Keep your valuables out of sight and keep handbags and keys away from letter boxes or cat flaps.
“Don’t leave vehicle or identification documentation in obvious places.
“In the evening, if you go out, close the curtains and leave lights on and if you have a burglar alarm, set it.
“Lock any side gates, lock your shed or garage.
“Lock your bicycle inside a secure shed or garage, to a robust fitting bolted to the floor or wall.”
