COUNCIL bosses have confirmed that changes will be made to the way the park run will happen over fears about the coronavirus pandemic.

Barnsley Central MP, Dan Jarvis has urged organisers to get the event, which was due to take place this Saturday, up-and-running again to aid with people's mental health.

He said: “Before the pandemic hit last year, on a Saturday morning, along with thousands of others around the country I would be putting on my trainers and joining in with Park Run.

“I am really keen to see Barnsley Park Run up and running again as soon as possible and have been in touch with the council to stress how important this is to residents.”

Council bosses stated that they are working to make the event as Covid-safe as possible to avoid further transmission of the virus.
