SPECIAL constables from across the borough helped assist response officers throughout Barnsley last week.

Incidents from their time ranged from criminal damage to missing people - and on Thursday night they arrested a man who had a warrant out for his arrest by Humberside Police.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “As we left Barnsley HQ a vehicle was seen wheel-spinning from the junction on to Huddersfield Road.

“The vehicle was stopped and the driver’s details checked and to our surprise the driver currently had a warrant out for his arrest and was wanted by Humberside Police for serious assault.

“He was swiftly cuffed and transported to Barnsley custody where he was then collected by our colleagues from Humberside to be dealt with for his crime.”
