ONLY four per cent of council tax bills dished out by the council last month were sent electronically.
Last month, Barnsley Council sent around 113,800 council tax bills with up to 96 per cent of bills sent on paper through the post.
Now, council bosses are urging residents to sign up for a My Bentax account which will see all future bills sent electronically to help reduce waste.
A spokesperson for Barnsley Council said: “That’s an awful lot of paper and money we could save if everyone signed up to e-billing.
“Help do your bit by setting up a My Bentax account on the Barnsley Council website and opt for e-billing to receive your future bills and correspondence online.”
