BARNSLEY couples are reminded that their notice of marriage expires after 12 months and to renew if Covid has halted plans.

Couples are required by law to give notice of their intent to marry at least 29 days for the date of their ceremony.

However, this notice is only valid for 12 months before it will have to be renewed.

With the impact of the coronavirus pandemic still affecting celebrations such as weddings, couples who may have had to postpone their big day are urged to renew their notice, otherwise their nuptials will not be allowed to go ahead.
