THE council is encouraging residents to support their local businesses by nominating your favourite local business.
In collaboration with ShopAppy.com, council bosses are wanting people to shop local this Valentine’s Day for ‘Love Local Day’.
Now the people of Barnsley have the chance to show some love to the businesses that power the community.
Barnsley Council is asking residents to nominate their favourite local business and tell them why they love them.
Everyone that nominates will be automatically entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a £100 Barnsley Gift Card that you could spend at your favourite store.
Coun Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesperson for place, said: "Now more than ever, it’s so important to show our love and support to the local independent businesses in our borough.
“Our traders have supported us through three lockdowns and overcome countless hurdles, managing to provide essential products to thousands of people. It’s now time to show them we are there for them when they need it the most.
“Shopping locally ensures our Barnsley businesses can survive and thrive.
“We urge as many local residents to shop local and give our local independent business the boost they need to overcome the challenges this pandemic has provided.”
