NHS workers across the borough will wear a rainbow badge to help promote inclusivity during LGBT+ history month.
The badges feature the NHS logo, surrounded by a rainbow which are the colours that represent the LGBT+ community.
Throughout February, LGBT+ history month helps to spread awareness of the challenges faced by members of the community and helps to provide support.
A spokesperson from Barnsley Hospital said: “The Rainbow Badges initiative gives staff a way to show that Barnsley Hospital offers open, non-judgemental and inclusive care for children, young people and their families, who identify as LGBT+.
“Originally growing from a conversation and shared experiences between colleagues, the initiative aims to make a positive difference by promoting a message of inclusion.”
