BARNSLEY residents are being encouraged to clap in honour of Captain Sir Tom Moore on their doorsteps tonight - as well as all other key workers.
The 100-year-old, who raised more than £33m for the NHS by walking laps of his garden, died with coronavirus in Bedford Hospital yesterday (February 3).
To show our appreciation, Barnsley residents have been asked to flock to their doorsteps and clap for the lockdown hero later tonight.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “Tonight at 6pm ,we’ll put our hands together to show our appreciation for Captain Sir Tom Moore, all that he stood for and all those health workers who he recognised with his fundraising.”
The clap is set to take place for 6pm.
