BINS across the borough will be collected today after the snow over the weekend delayed collection.

Barnsley Council made the announcement today (January 4) after the adverse weather prevented many bins from being emptied last weekend.

Collections have been rescheduled across the borough and will take place in areas such as Cawthorne, Measborough Dyke, Millhouse Green, and Oxspring.

A spokesperson for Barnsley Council said: “Due to the recent snow and icy road conditions there's been some disruption to bin collections that were scheduled between Tuesday, December 29 and Saturday, January 2.

“If your bin contents are frozen and stuck inside your bin, our lorry may not have been able to fully empty it. You can help to avoid frozen waste by loosening it if possible, when you put it out for collection.”
