CHRISTMAS Day is just around the corner and families across the borough will be hoping to form a bubble to celebrate the festive season – but what are the new rules?

Previously the government announced that families could meet for up to four days over the Christmas period, but due to a rising number of reported cases the decision was made to restrict visiting to just one day – Christmas Day.

Now up-to three households will be permitted to spend Christmas Day together.

Under the new rules you must:

  • Keep your bubble as small as possible

  • NOT join a bubble with anyone from a tier four area

  • Only meet your Christmas bubble in private homes, gardens, places or worship, or in public outdoor spaces

  • Only see your bubble on Christmas Day and do not stay overnight

Anyone over the age of 70, or who is classed as clinically vulnerable, is asked to consider the risks of the virus and where possible to meet family members outdoors and to keep a distance from anyone you do not live with.
