TWO men were arrested after a routine stop turned into a car chase.

On Friday, November 20, a Ford Focus was requested to stop on Kirby Lane, near Wentworth after officers believed the car to have false registration plates.

A chase ensued and the driver of the car and one passenger were arrested.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “The driver failed to stop and a pursuit commenced towards Droppingwell.

“The driver, a 23 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and theft of a motor vehicle.

“A passenger, a 22 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, theft of a motor vehicle and public order offences.

“Both men have been released under investigation.”
