RECYCLING centres across the borough will remain open with social distancing guidelines essential at all times.

Council bosses have confirmed that all council household waste recycling centres will stay open as the town prepares to go into a second lockdown tomorrow, November 4.

Recycling sites including Smithies Lane in Smithies, Nicholas Lane in Goldthorpe and Springvale in Penistone will be open from 9am.

A spokesperson for Barnsley Council said: “It’s essential visitors continue to observe social distancing on site at all times.

“Please be patient because allowing everyone to unload their waste in a socially distanced way does take longer, and queues are likely.”
