COUNCIL bosses are encouraging people to recycle their bathroom bottles as part of a national week which helps people to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Recycle Week runs each year from September 21 – 27 and encourages the public to recycle the objects that they no longer want or need.

Council bosses are urging Barnsley residents to look to their bathrooms to find empty packaging that shouldn't be left in a land-fill.

A spokesperson for the council said: “The bathroom’s full of bottles you can recycle, like those for hair and body wash, bubble bath, perfume, bleach and cleaning products. “Just remember to remove the pump before you pop them in your recycling bin.

“Cardboard packaging, like the box your toothpaste comes in, can also be recycled so long as it’s dry.

“Pop plastic tubs, empty toothpaste tubes, old toothbrushes and aerosols in your grey bin instead.”
