A SCHOOL in Hemingfield has reached the national final in a competition to win £10,000 worth of playground equipment.

The Ellis C of E Primary School is the only school in Yorkshire to reach the final of the Playground Prize competition, after students submitted a design for their perfect playground.

The company Creative Play has whittled down the entries to just three schools, with the winner being decided by public vote on its website.

Rachel Hurding, the school’s head teacher, is hoping that people get behind the local school.

“We entered the competition a couple of weeks ago, and we were surprised to be the only school in Yorkshire to reach the final.

“We’re the smallest school of the three but we would love to have something for the students to come back to.

“It’s a very uncertain time for schools and students at the moment and our children work so hard and it would be fantastic if people got behind us.”
