A SPATE of break-ins in Wombwell resulted in an arrest over the weekend.

Police attended a building yard on Barnsley Road on Sunday morning following reports of a break-in which led to the arrest of a 52-year-old man.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called to Barnsley Road shortly after 1.45am on Sunday to reports that there was a break-in at a building yard.

“Officers attended and arrested a 52-year-old Barnsley man on suspicion of burglary.”

This comes after reports of a different break-in at Wombwell Tyres on Sunday morning.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “We received a call at 4.11am on Sunday to reports of a burglary at Wombwell Tyres on Aldham Industrial Estate.

“We received the call following an alarm activation.

“It is reported that offenders had gained entry through the doors.

“Enquiries are ongoing, anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 144 of May 10, 2020.”
