FAST food giant McDonald’s has temporarily closed the seating areas in their restaurants in a bid to tackle the spread of coronavirus.

Anyone who wishes to visit McDonald’s will have to take their meal away, use the drive thru or you can order your food to be delivered via Uber Eats or Just Eat.

Barnsley has four McDonald’s, on Old Mill Lane, Upper New Street, Wombwell Lane and Tankersley on Maple Road Industrial Park.

Costa Coffee has also confirmed that the seating area will be closed from today, and all drinks will be served in a takeaway cup and food served in takeaway packaging to support social distancing.

In a statement issued by Costa it said: “We won’t be able to serve you your drink in your reusable cup but we will honour our 25p discount if you bring it in store.

“All stores will also have a more limited food range.”

Barnsley has Costa Coffee on Queen Street, Peel Street and on the Dearne Valley Parkway in Birdwell.
