A YELLOW warning for wind is currently in place due to storm Ciara.

The wind is currently reaching speeds of 70mph and there is disruption to travel due to fallen trees.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert on The Upper River Don, The River Dearne at Darton and Barugh and residents are being urged to remain vigilant.

Bark House Lane, Cawthorne, has a fallen tree which is blocking access to Cannon Hall.

A tree has also fallen on Huddersfield Road, Haigh, Windmill Road/ Aldamhouse Lane Wombwell, Churchfield Lane, Kexbrough, Burying Lane, Elsecar, Rabbit Ings, Royston and Manchester Road, Penistone, .

A tree is partially blocking the road on Halifax Road between Ingbirtchworth and Scout File.

Barnsley Council has issued a statement asking motorists to avoid those two areas.

Stagecoach have issued a statement advising that the service 95 and X10 are unable to service Churchfield Lane due to a tree blocking the road.

The busses are diverting along Huddersfield Road/Ballfield Lane in both directions.

A tree has also fallen into the road on Barnsley Road northbound heading onto Wath Road.

The A628 Woodhead pass has been closed in both directions to all traffic.

Traffic lights are also out on Doncaster Road on the junction for Cemetery Road and there are reports of a powrr cut in the S70 area.

The bridge on Smithies Lane has surface water so please drive with caution. Pontefract Road close to Cundycross Hill also has surface water.

There is also flooding on the Hemsworth Bypass on the A628 towards Brierley.
