A YOUNG man has been disqualified from driving after he was caught riding an off-road bike on the road.

Levi Shaw, 18, of no fixed abode was caught by police driving his off-road bike on Barnsley Road, Cudworth in June last year.

Shaw’s bike was seized as he had no insurance or licence.

At Barnsley Magistrates Court, Shaw was disqualified from driving for two years and ordered to complete 80 hours of community service.

Sgt Richard Wilson said: “The riding of unregistered and uninsured off road bikes and quads can only be done on private land with the owner’s permission or at an authorised facility – in South Yorkshire we are lucky to have at least three in Doncaster.

“Please consider this when purchasing such machines for your own or your children’s use.”
