A POLICE community support officer was taken to Barnsley Hospital after being bitten by a man in an altercation in the town centre.
The incident, which occurred in Peel Square on Saturday afternoon, saw the PCSO report being bitten on the right forearm as he attempted to detain a 21-year-old man.
The PCSO called for emergency support from officers and was taken to hospital.
An investigation is ongoing.
