Mr Scrooge

Mr. Scrooge is a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’ written by Barnsley’s own John Kelly, Writer in Residence at The Lamproom Theatre.
The story tells the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, an old man, who is well-known for his miserly ways.
On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is alone at home and is visited by a series of ghosts, starting with his old business partner, Jacob Marley.
The three spirits who follow - the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future, show Scrooge how his mean behaviour has affected those around him.
At the end of the story he is relieved to discover that there is still time for him to change and we see him transformed into a generous and kind-hearted human being.
This fabulous family-fun classic is the perfect treat for all ages.

Mother Goose - The Lamproom Pantomime

Mother Goose’ is a story with a strong moral – ‘Beauty and wealth cannot bring you happiness’.
The story tells of how Mother Goose is about to be thrown off her land because she cannot pay the squire and his bailiffs the rent she owes, when along comes Priscilla the goose. Mother Goose loves her as a friend, but does not know that she has been sent by the Good Fairy to help. Priscilla lays golden eggs and makes Mother Goose rich beyond her wildest dreams. However, the Demon King has a bet with the Good Fairy. He claims that there is no-one on earth who is happy or content with what they have – they always want more. The Good Fairy disagrees and uses Mother Goose as an example of goodness.
The Demon King tempts Mother Goose with the one thing that she does not have – youth and beauty. He persuades her to give him Priscilla in exchange for a visit to The Pool of Beauty. She gives him Priscilla and enters the pool, emerging as (she thinks) a beautiful woman.
Book your tickets to find out what happens to Mother Goose and all the gang in The Lamproom Theatre’s traditional family fun-packed Christmas Pantomime.

The Flamborough Fire Festival

VIKING LONGSHIP BURNING ON SEA OF FLAMES!
IT’S ALL HAPPENING AT THE FLAMBOROUGH FIRE FESTIVAL!

This year the Flamborough Fire Festival is promising to be the most spectacular ever!.. as the Festival organisers plan to burn a Viking Longship at this year’s event which will take place at the New Festival Arena in Flamborough on New Year’s Eve! The Team have been working hard, all summer, building Flamborough’s very first Viking Longship and the Festival’s Organiser, Jane Emmerson, tells us that she’s looking “absolutely resplendent”!

The burning of the Festival’s Viking Longship is just one of the new attractions to this year’s Festival with others being; a ‘Sea of Flames’ which will surround the burning Longship, a Torchlight Procession involving all the Festival’s visitors, even more Flamborough Fireballs in action and a move to the New Festival Arena, on the Village Green to accommodate even more spectators!

The New Festival Arena will be festooned with coloured lights and burning torches with the new Viking Longship set alight in a ‘Sea of Flames’!

The Flamborough Fireballs will also be in action – with more fireballs on display than in any other year! The local Vikings swing balls of fire around their heads as part of their New Year Eve Celebrations as villagers believe, in the days when Flamborough was a Viking stronghold, the community took to the streets with fire, to cleanse the air of the old year’s spirits and welcome in the new! The sight of all the fireballs burning in the midnight air is one that has never been seen in England before!

The Festival welcomes everyone and encourages all children, friends and families to take part in the Festival’s new Torchlight Procession and Viking Longship Parade. There will also be prizes awarded to the best dressed Vikings so everyone is encouraged to come in their Viking Costumes!

Jane Emmerson, the Festival Organiser, says “this year the Festival will be a blaze of fire, with fireballs, fire torches, a Torchlight Procession followed by a fireworks spectacular at midnight. The Viking Longship will be pulled around the village Green led by fire balls, fire torches and followed by the Torchlight Procession with everyone taking part for the very first time! It’s going to be an amazing night in Flamborough on New Year’s Eve and we hope everyone will come along and join in the Torchlight Procession, Viking Longship Parade, and be amazed at the Burning of the Viking Longship and Fireworks Spectacular at Midnight! Everyone is very welcome”.

The Festival starts at 10.30pm in the New Festival Arena on the Village Green on New Year’s Eve - Monday 31st December 2018 with the Burning of the Viking Longship in a ‘sea of flames’, the Flamborough Fireballs and a Torchlight Procession followed by a Fireworks Spectacular when the clock strikes midnight to welcome in the New Year. So come and join in all the fun and celebrate the New Year with us at Flamborough!
Each year the Flamborough Fire Festival is held in aid of local community groups and charities. This year the Festival Organisers are encouraging everyone to come in Viking Costume so all Children, 12 years and under and all adults, in full Viking Costume, will be allowed into the Festival for Free! Any others kindly attending the event will be asked to give a suggested kind donation at the gate.
