The search is on for the next Miller

Wednesday April 18 2018

WORSBOROUGH Mill is on the hunt for the next miller to continue the ancient tradition of stone grinding flour using water power.

The 17th century Worsbrough Mill has been milling flour since 1865 and is one of around 40 working mills in the country. It is estimated that there are approximately 300 traditional millers still employed in the ancient profession.

They are now looking for someone to take over, as Richard Moss, who has been milling for 20 years is retiring.

He said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to live and work in Barnsley which is steeped in history and has some beautiful scenery and hidden treasures to explore."

Craig Hartley, who is a manager for Barnsley Museums said: "The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and heritage with engineering experience"

If you are interested in the position the job application opens tomorrow on the Barnsley Council website at www.barnsley.gov.uk/jobs
