Dugher to stand down

Friday April 21 2017

Michael Dugher MP Michael Dugher MP

BARNSLEY East MP Michael Dugher has said he will not stand in June's general election.

Speaking to the Politics Home website, Mr Dugher said he "wanted to make a difference in life outside of politics" and spend more time with his family.

He was elected to serve his constituency in 2010.

The MP said he made the decision to stand down after seven years as an MP "with some sadness", but wished Labour "nothing but the best for the future".

Let's hope he's not the first one to go.

Is he joining the tory party?

Wonder if he will be making more glib comments on Twitter once he's left

Stop criticising (British Labour Leader) Corbyn's slow response: it takes time for (communications director) Seamas (Milne) to run the draft statement by the Kremlin, Stop the War + the Morning Star.

Maybe now we can get a socialist candidate, someone who knows what the Labour Party is really about. All the Blairites should stand down or face reselection. Clear out the dead wood.

The Labour Party needs to field a candidate who knows and understands the local electorate, not someone jetted in just because it's considered to be a comparatively safe seat, and will support the leader whoever he or she may be.

He's had a good wage for last 6 years. I nearly forgot all MP,s have just voted themselves 11% pay rise.

That Guy Fawkes has a lot to answer.

The only person to enter the House of Commons with good intention.

We will miss you very much, hope the person who takes your place well be as approachable and understanding as you. If I do not like I will not vote for him, might resign from being a Labour Party member, after all these years as a member (1973).

I wonder if the next Labour candidate will be a chimp wearing a red rosette? They might as well, the people of Barnsley East will still be thick enough to vote for it.

This is beyond a shadow of a doubt the BEST thing I have ever read in my life!

Dugher is, was and will always be an absolute PARASITE of the highest order who's sole purpose in life has been to ride the Labour gravy train and promote HIMSELF at every opportunity!

Jarvis next per chance?

Exactly of the same ilk as Dugher, albeit he gets a couple of brownie points for his military service, you DONT resign your post as highly decorated Sergeant Major in the elite parachute regiment to become "Career" MP for Barnsley central.

When will the good people of this once proud town finally see the Labour CLOWNS are only in it for themselves and to feather their own nests!

Could it be that Barnsley and surrounding districts are a 'dump' because we continually elect Labour councillors and MP's? Just a thought.

I certainly wouldn't vote for the Labour clowns merely on principle as Blair and his cronies have set this once green and pleasant land back decades with their idiotic namby pamby uber political correctness.

As for the BMBC Labour Clowns who have feathered their own nests for DECADES they have had unopposed and absolute power in the town hall for almost a century and what do we have to show for it apart from thousands of houses built on green belt land?

Yet another Labour parasite on the never ending gravy train as usual then?....

What do you suggest we do then Dave ? A general election in 7 weeks time, who will you be voting for,and why ? It's very easy to criticise and blame but what is your recipe for future success, prosperity and progress and which party can deliver it ?

None of the current mainstream political parties float my boat as they are only in it for themselves.
I could never vote Tory as it is ingrained in my psyche not to do so.

Corbyn has a few decent policies but Blair has poisoned the Labour party for me and until the Blairite conspirators are shown the door then I cant see the status quo changing.
Corbyn also doesn't do himself any favours with his musings on Trident.
Once the party of the working man there are nearly as many millionaires in the Labour party as the Tories.

Lib Dum / Fearon - JOKE
UKIP - Nuttall - JOKE of the highest order and one of the most deluded people I have ever come across, not to mention about as charismatic as a dose of clap.

So there you have it....

What is definitely needed is a brand new party based on socialist values and until then I will note be voting for any of the above.

Can't really argue with anything you've said but new parties take time to be established and then gain momentum. The very serious problems faced by all but the very richest in Britain are happening now and will continue and worsen unless there is a change of government and a change of direction. We need to tell the political class and the biased news media that we are sick of the way that we have been lead and misled(in both senses of the word) for decades.Privatisation of public services, the selling off of publicly owned housing, attacks on the trade union movement, the deliberate supression of wages ,pensions, and benefits justified by whatever "crisis"they invent,it just goes on and on.Working class people ,the poor ,the sick, are no longer to be helped and supported ,now they are insulted stigmatised and blamed. All the established parties are complicit. Can anybody offer a solution ?

Totally and utterly agree with everything you have said.
What the working classes want is as follows:

£10 an hour "living wage" at least.
Clampdown on tax dodgers / tax evasion.
Immigration in the hundreds not hundreds of thousands, we are a small island we simply cannot sustain the current 300,000 a year (Anyone who says 300,000 a year is sustainable and doesn't have serious impact on our schools, housing and NHS is seriously deluded)
Zero hours contracts and other exploitative contracts BANNED.
Hire and fire employment agencies BANNED.
A workplace "cap" on migrant workers (apart from the NHS) Of 10%.
Foreign aid to be supplied in goods, services and trades people only rather than sending money to countries that DONT need it.
Migrant workers not eligible for "top up" benefits like tax credits.
NO citizenship for EU members until they have been here and paid taxes for TEN years.
Family allowance for dependant migrant children abroad SCRAPPED.
Repeal the anti trade union legislation immediately and ensure that EVERYONE should be in a trade union.
Press to have far reaching and stricter restraints than what they are allowed to print.
Replace the human rights bill with English bill of rights.
Burn that idiot Sturgeon at the stake.
Peoples courts to decide sentencing rather than dithering old idiots who haven't got a bleeding clue.
Scrap the house of Lords.
Ensure that the country is not so "London centric".
40% budget cuts in every Tory controlled council.
Council tax freeze for 5 years.
END of £100K P.A "Council Leaders" (Houghton)
SCRAP HS2/HS3 and replace the east to west coast mainline with HS4 (Not invented yet)
Stop the Atos interrogations
Benefits - Those fit and healthy to work either work or get nothing, or get them digging drainage ditches by hand.
Once "franchises" run out on the railway network bring them back into public ownership.
Stop profiteering from the NHS from companies like Virgin.
Stop profiteering from the high street banks.
Stop dodgy accountants from advising clients how to avoid tax.
Bring back FREE industrial tribunals
Repeal the law regarding workplace accidents and compensation.
BAN playstations from prisons and crap like that.
NO early release from prisons for "good behaviour"
MPS to attend EVERY sitting in Parliament (as far as practicable ) otherwise they don't get paid.
Repeal the law that decides that anyone can build on green belt sites.
Planning consent to be decided by the people of the area rather than idiotic planners.
Ban the Burka with immediate effect.
Disability benefits to be increased.
Stop giving drug addicts and alcohol dependants disability benefits.
Stop giving addicts methodone and force them to go cold turkey.
Decriminalise cannabis and make it a trade.
Stop employers using random drug tests to discriminate against workers.
Ban politically correctness.
STOP pandering to particular religions at particular times of the year, we are a Christian country and people should take this into account.
STOP the privatisation of any more publicly owned companies.
Break up the "big six" energy suppliers.
INVEST in renewable technologies such as wind and solar.
All major housing developments MUST have at LEAST 40% "affordable" housing which would be at "actual cost" rather than whatever the developer decides to charge.
Replace the workplace pension with a "peoples pension" which would ensure a better return for the person paying in.

I could go a lot further..

The English Peoples Party...
