Police appeal after woman has bag snatched

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman had her handbag stolen by a man in a car as she waited for a bus. 

The 60-year-old woman and her husband were stood at the bus stop just outside the Travellers Inn on Sheffield Road, Birdwell, just after midnight on Sunday (March 5) when a small, dark coloured car is  pulled up alongside them.

A man, who was sat in the back of the car, got out and snatched the woman’s handbag from her, causing her to stumble and fall, before driving away.

The man is described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall, in his early 20s, of average build, with short dark brown hair and a broad nose.

He is described as wearing grey oversized jogging trousers with tight elasticated ankles and a short, dark padded bomber style jacket and dark trainers.
