I know the lad who was assaulted as he lives next door to me. Why anyone would want to do this to him is beyond me. He is a young lad who keeps out of trouble and works hard for a living and never says anything wrong to anyone. One of the politest young men that you could wish to meet. I do believe that the police have caught one of the men involved.

I hope that the police have caught someone who was involved in this assault.
I feel very sorry for the victim, your neighbour, and I hope he is alright.
it always seems to happen to the nice ones.
There are some horrible people who seem to sail through life and nice people get hurt.

Another attack on Wellington Street, wouldn't go in if someone paid me. That street needs to be closed down or at leasf closed early. Surely there is cctv in the place to help identify them. Hope the lad is recovery

It has become a disgusting part of town. will not go there anymore for a night out. people are forever going on about down an outs, addicts and alkies in peel square etc in broad daylight but Wellington st at nite is worse. Here you have people who are not penniless and have money to burn to get drunk and violent on everybody's favourite legal drug (alcohol) as well as no doubt illegal drugs as well. Don't like what I see in broad daylight, nobody does, but grown men p.ssed of there heads puking all ova and starting fights - no thanks

Those of us who are old enough to remember going into town, and yes Wellington st in the eighties remember it as always being rough, but a nice and honest rough!!!!!!!! Grown men "and women" have always puked up on Wellington st, and will hopefully continue to do so for years to come!!!!!!!!
The problem is the lack of respect. Brought on by the lack of real jobs and the aspirations of our current population, the increase of recreational drug use and the dissolution of our town by "economic migrants" that bring a life is cheap attitude and culture that just does not fit with ours!!!!!!
