A DISQUALIFIED driver has been arrested after fleeing the scene of a crash on Sheffield Road last night following a police chase.

At about 10.05pm, a black Audi A6 was seen travelling along Doncaster Road, Stairfoot, towards Barnsley, allegedly at high speed.

Police pursued the car, which continued on to Cemetery Road before it was involved in a collision with a purple Citoren Picasso, at the junction with Park Road.

The driver of the Audi, a 36-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, driving whilst disqualified and possession of a controlled drug, after leaving the scene.

A 65-year-old man driving the Citroen was taken to hospital with minor injuries as a result of the collision.

Thank you to all the people who helped me last night, the police, paramedics and especially the good Samaritan who pulled me clear of the car, and provided blankets to keep me warm. Left hospital around 12 noon, in better shape than my car.

It's a great shame people who write up these articles can't even spell!

Oh for goodness sake Barry. It is a far greater shame that a driver without a licence has caused this accident where another driver could have been killed. Honestly, where are your priorities? Why bother commenting about spelling?
I sincerely hope that the victim in this crash makes a speedy recovery and resumes driving, with confidence.
