Elderly man pronounced dead after he collapsed in Hoyland

A 79-YEAR-OLD man died after he collapsed in Hoyland.

Police were called to King Street, Hoyland at 1:25pm today, 25 October, after receiving a report of a man who had collapsed.

The ambulance service was informed and he was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are not treating his death as suspicious.

Bill was Salt of the Earth kinda Bloke,,,He was always telling me Tales from the past,never seen him moping around alus a smile for everyone,,,,Although he work in a Shop which also selt Ladies clothes it didnt bother the Ladies of Hoyland,Bill was just part of the shop,,He loved a natter but very strong Morals,,My Thoughts are with Sylver and his Family,,RIP Bill ,its been a Pleasure knowing ya love,xxxxxx

Was this the fella from the ex catalogue shop?
If it was he has always been lovely with my little girl and if I went in the shop without her he would ask after her.

Absolutely gutted. We were talking to him about an hour before he passed. Always a lovely greeting and a chat. We will miss him. All our deepest sympathies to Sylvia, Greg and family. It was a privelidge to have known a lovely man, as a friend. Xxx
