POLICE have organised a series of events that will give locals a chance to speak with officers about concerns they have about Barnsley.

As part of the events there will be community surgeries held in Kendray, to provide information to the public and give residents the opportunity to speak directly with officers.

On Wednesday October 12, a police stall will be placed at Lavender Court from 12pm to 8pm, and a community support group will take place from 6pm to 7pm at St Andrews church, Gerald Road.

Officers will also be present after the meeting to speak with residents and answer questions.

Events will also take place in Barnsley town centre on Wednesday October 12. Officers will be present from 10am to 3pm at Barnsley Interchange, from 12pm to 4pm at Better Barnsley shop, Cheapside, and from 10am to 2pm on the engagement bus outside Sports Direct.

I'd rather the money spent on these events be used towards another bobby on the beat. For clarity I mean walking the street not driving around in an Astra.

Its probably cost £1654.40 in staff time plus "Engagement Bus Costs" and any "Freebies/Giveaway merchandise items" plus expenses i.e. lunch and drinks for the staff - so lets conservatively say £5k to "engage with the community" - i'd rather have confidence they were engaging the dregs of society with their batons and boots.

Then you need to attend one of these events and state that, as thats what they are for.

Seriously, they cant win...

They organise things to identify exactly what the public in specific areas want, and you go mad about it...
