POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a knife-wielding thief robbed a shop in Royston. 

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw a 30-year-old white man, wearing a black hooded jacket and peaked cap near High Street Stores at 7.25pm on Monday. 

The man was of small build, and was wearing black jogging bottoms, had dark hair and a dark beard.

Police want to talk to him about a robbery at knife-point, where staff were threatened and a small amount of cash was taken from the till of the store.

Anyone with further information should call 101 quoting incident 1154.
