A MAN and a teenage boy have been jailed for a combined total of over 18 years after robbing and assaulting a vulnerable disabled woman in Wombwell last year.

Tony Andrew Nuttall, 29, was sentenced to 14 years behind bars after a jury found him guilty of robbery and handling stolen goods in May this year.

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also sentenced. He was charged alongside Nuttall with robbery, burglary and fraud.

The teen entered guilty pleas at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison.

On Monday, November 23, 2015, police were called to an address in Summer Lane, Wombwell, following reports a group had broken into the property and stolen a number of items including a chequebook and handbags.

Three days later, they went back to the same house where they threatened and assaulted the resident, a disabled 63-year-old woman, in the middle of the night. The group made off with a large number of valuables and sentimental items.

Detective constable, Oliver Williams from Barnsley, said: “Burglary is an intrusive and scary crime for victims to experience, but in this case Nuttall and others went back to the same property a second time and subjected our victim – a vulnerable woman – to a violent assault."

Thank you for publicising my robbery and assault. Two of the three burglars were in police custody by the following lunchtime, the police really did their job kindly and efficiently and I have received all the support and care from professionals that is supposed to happen. By the way, I'm not that old, just disabled and at the time I was seriously ill. My neighbours and relatives were superb, but it is still very frightening to be home invaded and leaves you feeling vulnerable.

As awful as the crime is they did was, you still have to remember this is a teenage boy that's been dragged down with a man who's much older than himself, a very vunrable Young lad that just mixed in with the wrong crowd and tied him down with class a drugs so he'd dance to their tune! Just Some things the court doesn't take into account....

Why do people keep making excuses for younger people ? once again this all stems from how you are brought up !

Don't dare make excuses for this scum, so what he might have had it rough, my childhood was shocking! But I would never ever hurt anybody. I go out of my way to help others as I know how it feels. So sorry no excuse for low life self centred vile individuals! so glad this poor lady is ok, awful traumatic experiance to have to experiance. Such a strong lady.

The very dregs of society they must be . One hopes that suitable retribution will be received within the prison walls .
