A BARNSLEY teenager celebrated her 18th birthday by donating 18 brand new presents to the Barnsley Hospital Children’s ward.

Charlotte Baker, from South Kirby, bought individual presents for each of the 12 children staying on the Children's ward at the time.

Charlotte also purchased six new born presents for the first six babies born on her birthday.

On the day of her 18th, Charlotte and her family visited the ward to personally hand out the presents to the children.

Charlotte said: “As soon as my mum asked me what I would like for my birthday, I knew I wanted to buy presents for the children. I am very fortunate and couldn’t’ think of anything that I needed so I wanted to give something back to the community and hopefully make a few children smile during a difficult time.”
