New bridge over River Dove

Barnsley Council has helped to fund the bridge Barnsley Council has helped to fund the bridge

A NEW BRIDGE has been constructed over the River Dove in Worsbrough, replacing the one that was washed away in 2007.

The steel bridge has been constructed above any future flooding levels, and will allow safe access to Woolley Bank Wood and the surrounding area.

The construction is being funded by various partners, who have all contributed to the costs of the project. They include Barnsley Council, Section 106 monies, the Dearne Valley Landscape Partnership (DVLP) and the Worsbrough Councillors, who have provided funding for the design of the bridge.

If you come up from stairfoot to worsbrough, look to the left when you get to open fields and you can see it sticking out like a sore thumb on the landscape and looking totally disproportionate to the small amount of access only traffic it should be serving. The bridge itself is actually quite close to where the dodgy retail units are being built near screwfix, toolstation and Gregg's and on a road that conveniently could provide a nice new access road to these dodgy units.

I wonder why a lot of residents at the wosbrough end of that potential link road have suddenly out their houses up for sale.

Conspiracy theories behind the new large bridges real purpose anybody?

Thank you mini. What is the other bridge for? I read that it was to repair a damaged bridge and only for light use but it looks like a massive project
