Barnsley's transport services

Tuesday June 21 2016

What do you think to Barnsley's transport services? What do you think to Barnsley's transport services?

WITH discussions taking place on how to improve Barnsley's buses and trains, we want to know what changes you'd like to make to Barnsley's transport services.

Are buses and trains too expensive? Should children under a certain age go free? Are the services reliable?

Bus pass for train and bus back to 60 for pensioners or at least a reduced fare pass.

Extend the T&M ((300) route around Flouch crowedge instead of T&M travel bus going round those small estates at Milhouse green thus linking more people to the bigger town buses e.g stagecoach 25 runs every 2hours link us who live rural up to the trains and town buses.

How many more times is this question going to be asked?? It's only a matter of weeks since last time!! Do the people who ask the question see the responses?? If not why not? What is the point of asking in the first place?? Are you at WAB the only people who see responses?? We never see the outcome of any questions asked?? I'm sure the people who manage!!!! buses and trains, are fully aware of what the public need, NOT WANT!! More buses in outlying areas AND free train travel for senior citizens! When wi it ever end!!! Feed back please WAB!!!!

I thought train changes were already settled by the new Northern contract? Fast trains to Nottingham replaced by Lincoln in a few years time?

Half hourly trains reinstated in elsecar, wombwell n chap get them why not elsecar. It was wrong for council to remove that other train in first place.

Kids with a mi card should charge a lot less then they do and kids without a mi card should be abit cheaper and I think they should not have grumpy bus drivers and prices for adults should be cheaper it's so expensive and all old people should be free

Kids fares are by far the cheapest in South Yorkshire then anywhere else, you want to be grateful they are not half the adult fare like most places

Please put pressure on bus operators to allow realistic journey running times drivers are having to run late all the time using up meagre rest time in bus stations breaking safety rules.

You don't get west Yorkshire moaning about kids half fares, people in Barnsley do naff all but moan. Buses not turning up.......have you ever thought of breakdowns, accidents, roadworks, diversions etc.........NONE OF WHICH ARE THE FAULT OF THE DRIVER..........GROW UP

I believe in free travel for all. We pay enough taxes and everything gets more expensive every year it's time to give the people a brake time for free travel for everyone

It's not just busses and trains it's taxis as well. Not enough especially on town on a weekend. There not priced properly either because it's different how much it costs depending on the company that you use. I'd like to see more regular properly priced and fairly priced taxis.

Services too unreliable !! ALWAYS late, making me late for work constantly as i rely on them. Not often enough either, only 1 an hour. Had my wage docked so many times because of un reliabilty from stagecoach!

The answer to the BUS PASS for the over 60s on the train is in the name - BUS pass.

Any allowance for travel on Trains (or Trams!!!!!) is at the discretion (and paid for!!!!!!) by the local authority.

Regarding the MiCards, they are on the way out soon, hence the fare getting closer to MegaTravel rate.

Also, the MegaTravel fare was meant to be going next year, so was more than likely going to increase to 1/2 or 2/3 fare for children, as it would then become the operators responsibility.

The 96 & 97 only came into existence due to the fact that nobody wanted to subsidise the cross boundary routes when Arriva withdrew them years back.

Regarding the 300, no doubt you are aware that there are plans in place to severely cut back the rural services beyond Penistone.

No more buses from Millhouse Green towards Stocksbridge or Holmfirth, and Penistone towards Denby Dale, other than a Dial a Ride type operation.
No more services through Hood Green, so to get from Thurgoland to Barnsley you'll have to travel via Penistone.
No buses from Stocksbridge to Barnsley.

People in West Yorkshire don't moan as much as people in Barnsley do about fares - they just accept life as it is, rather than constantly wanting something for nothing.

xxxxxxx works for a bus company.

It's not wanting something for nothing you forget that the tax payer pays for everything that the local authority does. We also pay concessions to the bus company.

So moaning you are getting a sh**t service for something that you pay a premium for is to be expected.

I don't use the crap smelly busses that we have but I want old and young people to be able to access villages and towns in our area as it's 70% rural.

Bus companies are shortsighted and only want quick wins.

Fast trains ( non stop) to Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester. Cheap enough to make commuting a reality. Enough seats and later trains.
