Flag Flying For Armed Forces Day
Tuesday June 26 2012
THE FLAG on the Town Hall is flying this week to celebrate Armed Forced Day.
The Mayor of Barnsley Dorothy Higginbottom and armed forces representatives gathered in front of the War Memorial outside Barnsley Town Hall yesterday for a short ceremony and the raising of the flag.
The Mayor said: “Barnsley is extremely proud of its regimental links, both past and present. We will therefore be proudly flying the flag through to Armed Forces Day (June 30) to recognise the significant and invaluable contribution made by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty Armed Forces to our country.”
