Improvements to trains will be made Improvements to trains will be made

BARNSLEY has been promised a “transformational” change to the area’s rail network including improved trains, more services and better station facilities.

Ariva took over the Northern franchise earlier this year and have announced a £1bn investment across the region which will bring direct benefits to the Barnsley area.

Improvements will see new or totally refurbished trains running, with shorter journey times, more frequent services and more seats available.

They will have free wi-fi, which will also be available at stations, as well as customer information screens and accessible toilets.

What improvements would you like to see?

- A direct train to Sheffield for a quicker time to London (no calling at Meadowhall)

- Quicker services to Hudd and Manchester somehow

- Later and more direct trains back from Leeds.

1. Trains which are occasionally disinfected
2. Direct Train to Sheffield synchronized to avoid the 40 minute wait for the London Trains
3. Enforced "anti-loitering" for ASBO enthusiasts within 200 yards of the station
4. seats with head rests rather than the cattle truck bench seats
5. a better balance of longer/higher passenger capacity trains at peak times

A platform/stop at Wilthorpe/Redbrook area especially with all the new houses being built in the area.

some new trains and some more services. Also how about dropping the service to leeds that goes via castleford, it add about 20 minutes on the journey and is pretty pointless.

How about getting all the Sheffield to Huddersfield line trains to stop at Elsecar. This would give additional capacity and services from Elsecar to Meadowhall, Sheffield and Barnsley. I don't understand why, apart from an odd few services, all the rest go straight through Elsecar without stopping but then stop at every other station on the route!

More trains on a morning in the rush hour and an evening rush hour. They get so busy, you can never get a seat and sometimes I’ve been turned away because a train is already so full which made me late for work.
