A DRUNK driver was arrested in Barnsley yesterday after colliding with a number of vehicles - whilst being filmed for BBC show Crimewatch.

The vehicle was reported to police by several members of the public late yesterday afternoon (May 20) for driving erratically between Rawmarsh and Worsbrough.

The male driver collided with several cars on his journey, both parked and moving.

After failing to stop for police as he entered Worsbrough, the pursuing officers deliberately collided with him.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving, failing to stop, drink driving and criminal damage.

He was also filmed for the BBC's Crimewatch Road Show on drug drivers.

Numpty he is but harmless.... Midlife crisis maybe.... I know he would never deliberately harm anyone.

He isn't harmless. He is dangerous. Hence the dangerous driving charge. He'll be spending the next year hoping he doesn't drop the soap and rightfully so

Harmless??? He's drunk behind the wheel of a car.... Could have killed someone, run over a child or anything. You don't accidently get drunk and then drive a car. These actions are foolish and need appropriate punishment. To the slammer......

Drunk drivers should have a mandatory ban of 5 years and a second offence of a life ban, people get killed through drunk driving, if driving without a valid full licence the driver should be sanctioned without mercy ie tagged with conditions or ultimately sent to prison, the prisons are full so this won't happen, killing while drunk driving should have a long mandatory sentence. Also killing while dangerous driving should have a long mandatory sentence of prison

First offence should be a lifetime ban. Second offence should be a long prison sentence and anyone driving without insurance or without a valid licence should be imprisoned too as a driving ban won't stop anyone who is driving illegally I the first place.

it's about time that when caught on camera that drunk or drugged drivers were actually seen on screen as they have given up their right for privacy as they are knowingly committing a crime
