A NEW LAW to crackdown on legal highs comes in this month.

The Psychoactive Substances Act 2016 has been strongly campaiged for by Barnsley MP Dan Jarvis after a number of complaints from constituents about people vomiting and passing out in the street.

The law aims to ban any substance intended for human consumption that is capable of producing a psychoactive effect.

The act is set to come into force on May 26.

Is this just a poorly worded article? Or a poorly worded law? if neither I can't see this law being very effective, as I know of very few problematic legal highs that are 'intended' for human consumption, in fact most are labelled 'not intended for human consumption'! So what will the law be regarding the sale of psychoactive substances sold, which are not for human consumption, but which are obviously going to be used for that purpose?
